IRLring

IRLring is a proximity dating app that only shows you people who are physically near you, when you're both standing still in the same place.

iPhone and Android. You're registering this phone.

Know someone who'd be a great tester? Send them irlring.com/pilot — everyone signs the same confidentiality agreement.

IRLring can't be installed on this device

IRLring runs on iPhone and Android phones only. Open irlring.com/pilot in the browser on your phone to register, sign in and install.

Register

We're inviting a small group of testers to try IRLring before launch. Tell us who you are.

Registering this iPhone. Use the phone you'll test with.

Before you register, you need

An iPhone on iOS 26.3 or later. Android and iPad are not supported.
An Apple ID signed in to the App Store on that iPhone. It's how the free TestFlight app installs and how you accept the invite.
An email you can open on that iPhone for your sign-in codes, and the Apple ID email that iPhone uses for the App Store. They are often the same address — if yours are different, we need both, because Apple sends the TestFlight invite to the Apple ID.
To be 18 or older, and to sign a strict confidentiality agreement before you can install.

This is your contact email. Your sign-in codes and everything we send you go here. You must be able to open it on the phone you'll test with.

The address your iPhone uses for the App Store. Your TestFlight invite goes to your Apple ID, not your contact address. If they're different, give us both.

Same as my contact email

I have an iPhone running iOS 26.3 or later. That iPhone has an Apple ID signed in to the App Store, so I can install TestFlight and accept the invite.

I have read the entire agreement and I understand it is a binding contract. I agree to the confidentiality terms: no screenshots, recordings, posts, press, social or group-chat discussion of the app or the pilot, no showing it to anyone who hasn't signed, and no reverse engineering. Other testers' identity, location and messages stay confidential. I agree to the license, the conduct and anti-harassment rules, and I give explicit consent to the data collection described, including precise background location, motion state, ring heartbeat, in-app interactions and diagnostics. I accept the beta "as is" terms and the US$100 liability cap. I am at least 18 years old, I am the person named below, and typing my name is my electronic signature.

Install IRLring

Install

Install on iPhoneEight short steps, in order, on the phone you'll test with.

1

Get IRLring on Google Play

Tap the button on your Android phone. Google Play opens the private test page for IRLring.

Open IRLring on Google Play

2

Accept the invite

Tap Accept invite. Use the Google account your phone's Play Store is signed into, the same email you registered here with.

If Play says you're not invited, the email on your phone doesn't match the one you registered. Tell us which Gmail you use and we'll add it.

3

Install

Tap Download it on Google Play, then Install. New builds update by themselves through Google Play from then on.

Prefer the app file? Download the APK directly (Android will show a Play Protect warning for files installed outside the store).

1

Install TestFlight

TestFlight is Apple's free app for trying apps before launch. Get it from the App Store.

Get TestFlight

2

Find your invite email

Check the inbox for the Apple ID we invited:

Look for a message from "IRLRing LLC via TestFlight" with the subject "…is now available to test".

Not there? Check Spam and Promotions. Still nothing? Tap below and Apple sends it again.

3

Accept and install

Open that email on your iPhone.

Tap View in TestFlight → Accept → Install.

4

Create your account

Open IRLring and tap Create Account. Use this same email:

Your verification code comes from noreply@irlring.com.

Check spam if it doesn't show up within a minute.

5

Say yes to the permissions

Allow Bluetooth, Notifications, Location and Physical activity.

When iOS asks about location a second time, choose "Change to Always Allow".

Why: rings only work when the app can see where you are with the phone in your pocket.

6

Set your home address

Type in where you live.

Nobody can find you within 50 m of it. Ever.

7

No ring? No problem.

Tap "Continue without ring". Everything in the pilot works from the phone alone.

8

Done? Tell us.

Tap the button once IRLring is installed and your account is created. Then go find the fleet.

Apple has finished reviewing this build, so your invite works as soon as it lands. Stuck anywhere? I'm stuck — email support@irlring.com.

The Hunt

Here's how the pilot works out there.

Follow the beacon

The gold comet arrow at the edge of the screen points to the nearest Discovery Ring. Tap it to fly there.

Walk into the ring

Three rings, nested. Identities only appear once you're inside the Connection Ring.

Discovery 800 m→Approach 150 m→Connection 30 m

Meet the fleet

Persona accounts are out there in groups at bars and cafés in your city. They behave like real people and only ever talk to testers.

Like, match, chat

Swipe right to like; they like back within seconds and chat unlocks. 3 actions per person, 50 characters each — a note, a chess or checkers invite, or a drawing each cost one action. Moves are free.

Play

Chess and checkers live inside the chat; forfeit any time. Send a drawing and you get a doodle back.

File a Field Report

Every encounter writes a debrief to Field Reports. Rate it 1–5 and add a comment — that’s the feedback we need.

Bug?

See something broken? Tap Bug? in the app's top bar — it screenshots exactly what you're seeing and sends it to the dev team with your notes.
